I recall fond memories scouring the city dump with my dad at an early age. He had a truck that was so old, the white paint rubbed off on your clothes when you BRUSHED UP against the fenders. It had an air horn, so I'm pretty sure that qualifies it as being "vintage." Daddy would bring home broken furniture, and restore it back to its original beauty. This is where I got my "scavenger" instinct.
Through the years I have glued, dismantled, combined, restored, re-purposed, stripped, and painted my finds as a hobby, selling, or giving my family most of my finished pieces. Today, I skip the stripping and the prepping when I can, and get straight to the best part: PAINTING! It's in my blood, and I have to do it, and I cannot stop. You could say I'm addicted, and I would be okay with you saying that.
My skills come from trial and error, reading, taking workshops and a lot of plain hard work, to prepare me for my leap of faith to open Miss Fancy Paints. My venture is shared with my husband Mike. I give him all the credit for naming my shop. He's most talkative in the morning while we walk our 2 labs, Willy Boy and Frito. After a long walk one early morning, we agreed that Miss Fancy Paints was perfect. It's a store name with an attitude, and I love it, and love that it was Mike's idea.
I welcome you to my little shanty called Miss Fancy Paints: DIY Boutique. You will find re-imagined finds as well as vintage picks in their original time-worn charm, and of course Fusion Mineral Paint. I hope you will find it to be a store worthy of revisiting often, and a place to come for inspiration and instruction. I look forward to meeting you and seeing your creations. Come see my paint shop today! Feel free to contact me if you have an idea, suggestion or simply a comment. I vow to be a life-long student, and never pass up the opportunity to grow and make a new friend.
